Honda CR-V, Passport and Odyssey named “Best Cars for the Money”
The #1 rated compact SUV was the Honda CR-V. In one of the most competitive segments in the automotive industry, what set the CR-V apart from the competition? While it is competitively priced, the CR-V isn’t thousands of dollars cheaper than the competition and therefore earns the “Best Car for the Money” title through unchallenged value. To start, the CR-V offers one of the largest in class cargo capacities with 39.2 cubic feet of storage behind the 2nd row and 75.8 cubic feet with the back seats folded down. The spaciousness of the cabin has a higher end finish, with high quality materials finishing off the aesthetic. But perhaps the most important feature of the CR-V is its low cost of ownership.
“The CR-V is proof that a top-ranked car doesn’t have to be a budget buster,”
said U.S. News & World Report Executive Editor Jaime Paige Deaton.
“Critics and buyers alike love how easy the CR-V is to live with. Its low ownership costs are the perfect complement to the CR-V’s practicality.”
The winner of the 2-row SUV category was the new kid on the block, Honda Passport. The Passport, which only premiered in 2019 is quickly becoming a favourite in its class. Using the larger Pilot chassis and engine gives the Passport a distinctive feel from its close cousin in the CR-V. The main benefit of this is the 280 Horsepower V6 engine that powers the Passport, giving you an incredibly powerful and responsive SUV that outclasses much of the competition. This chassis also lets the Passport be more versatile, boasting an 8.1 ground clearance and 5000 pound towing capacity the Passport can truly do anything from hauling to light off-roading. Similar to the CR-V, the Passport has great storage capacity, offering even more space than the slightly smaller CR-V.
“The Passport is the perfect example of a car that balances value and quality,”
said Executive Editor Jamie Deaton.
“Though it isn’t the least expensive SUV in its class, it offers great long-term value, with plenty of space and comfort, and strong recommendations from critics.”
Last but certainly not least was the longtime favourite of minivan drivers everywhere, the Honda Odyssey. Earning both the top rank from U.S News and the “Best Car for the Money” means it really is head and shoulders above the competition. Similar to the other Honda winners, the Odyssey has a 5/5 star safety rating which will keep you and your family safe in the event of an emergency. On that topic, the Odyssey is absolutely loaded with standard safety and convenience features. The following are all standard on any trim level of Honda Odyssey:
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Forward Collision Warning
- Pedestrian Detection
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Traffic Sign Recognition
- Lane Departure Warning
- Lane Keep Assist
- Automatic High-Beam Headlights
- Rear-seat Reminder
- Rearview Camera
The Odyssey comes with the same 280 horsepower V6 engine that powers the Passport, leading to a shockingly powerful and agile minivan. The soft steering of the Odyssey feels much more like driving a car and lets you perfectly control the vehicle with ease. The Odyssey of course features tons of storage and cargo space, while still being spacious for up to 8 full grown passengers. With incredible customization across all its trim levels, the Odyssey can fit your needs and your budget no matter what your preference may be.
